This is a very
important aesthetic procedure in young children to set back
prominent ears closer to the head, or to reduce the size of
large (bat) ears. These Children are usually between the
ages of 4 and 14 years and are rather conscious of this at
school or play. A strip of skin with cartilage is trimmed
from behind the ear and the flat hollow of the upper ear is
given its regular contours. The angle between the ear and
head is reduced with a special stitch. |

General. Older children or adults: General or Local, with sedation. |

Usually as a day case. |
Sequelae |

Temporary pain, ache and swelling. |
Recovery |

Back to work or school: 5 to 7 days.
Strenuous activity and contact sports: A month or
two. |
